French Provincial Dresser Makeover with General Finishes

I'm a sucker for white these days. It just feels so clean and crisp. I never would have thought I would end up painting this French Provincial dresser white!! No distressing, no glazing or dark wax, not even a French color for that matter!

We recently found out we are expecting our 4th child in December & it's a GIRL...after 3 boys:)
It was time to makeover that old dresser I bought back in my early 20's, when I started college. Hard to believe I still have it & it's my style of furniture now! I wasn't into furniture back then but it's funny how a piece of me knew I would be some day:)

I wanted a simple, elegant, soft & clean feel for our guestroom. The dresser will hold our little girl to be clothes but the rest of the room has always been an "extra" room. Never decorated....it had a bed & held extra stuff we didn't have room for in the house. I don't want a whole nursery...my babies are in my room! I'm that kind of mom:) We need a guestroom with the amount of family & friends coming to visit us.

I decided to use General Finishes in Snow White. I've heard good things about their line of paint & clear top coat. The top coat has been said to not yellow white paint over time. I like to use a hard top coat vs furniture wax on pieces that are going to get a lot of use. I have children & they will be opening & closing these drawers.

I forgot to get a close up the dresser before but I found this image online and it's very close to what it looked like. I have photos at the end of the post with pictures of the room before taken with my iphone. You can kind of see it in those pictures.

I loved this wrapping paper I found at HomeGoods but I didn't know what I would ever use it for. Finally a place to use it! Line the drawers:)

The awful before! Please don't judge:(( It was our boys room when we moved in & they decided to move to another room about 2 years ago. I just never had time to "do it up."

Come back next week to see the headboard makeover & full room reveal!
